Who can apply to the open call?

Application criteria are as follows: 

  • Age: 18 – 28 years old
  • Fluent in English or Dutch 
  • Must be based on the African continent full time
  • Must have produced at least one physical fashion collection (minimum 5 looks either as part of a tertiary institute or independently)
  • Must have valid passport

When is the deadline for the open call?

The deadline for the open call is 7 July 2022. 

What costs are covered by Bubblegum Club x Daily Paper?

Bubblegum Club and Daily Paper will cover flights, accommodation, travel insurance and visa fees. The successful applicant will also receive a stipend for food and travel in Amsterdam. 

When does the internship start?

The internship will tentatively take place in September* 

*This is dependent on COVID-19 travel restrictions. 

Do I need to be vaccinated?

In order to travel to Amsterdam the successful applicant must be vaccinated against COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2. 

What is the selection process?

The selection process will be facilitated by representatives from the Bubblegum Club and Daily Paper teams. Following the closure of the open call the jury will decide on a final 10. Thereafter, the public will vote on the final 5 applicants. The jury will then hold interviews and make the final selection, deciding on the successful applicant. 

Will my designs be made public?

Only applicants who make it to the top 10 finalists will be asked to share their design portfolio on the microsite. Applicants who apply during the open call and are not selected in the top 10 will not have their designs shared publicly.

How many times can I apply?

Applicants are limited to one application and submitting to the open call once. 

Do I need a valid passport?

Applicants require a valid passport in order to travel to Amsterdam.

Will I have to apply for my own visa?

Bubblegum Club x Daily Paper will be responsible for covering the cost of the successful applicant’s visa. However, the applicant will be responsible for the application and collection process of their own visa.
